My Story

Did you know that 1 in 7 women in the UK will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer?

I didn't realise this until I became one of them. Thanks to the amazing NHS I was successfully treated in January 2024. I underwent 2 surgeries including lymph node clearance. For the next 10 years, I'll be taking hormone blocker medication. I feel thankful that treatment has come such a long way in recent years and has become so bespoke to the individual and that there are a range of pathways available. However, there is still much work to do in preventing and treating this terrible disease that affects so many people, young and old. That's why I've signed up to take on this lifelong ambition to (hopefully) conquer Kilimanjaro.

Thank you for your support.

About us

Discover Adventure specialises in worldwide cycling and trekking, with fundraising at its heart. Founded in 1994, through our core runs a passion for the outdoors and travel, and a desire to help others push their limits and create a positive impact through fundraising. Behind our challenging, fun, and often life-changing trips is a dedicated team of friendly staff and experienced leaders who take pride in every participant’s achievements.

The highest freestanding mountain in the world, Kilimanjaro is also the highest mountain on the African continent at 5895m. Push your limits both physically and mentally as you overcome challenges on this unforgettable fundraising adventure. Our trek takes the Machame route, which allows for gradual acclimatisation to the altitude and therefore offers an excellent chance of reaching the summit. We pass through thick forest, moorland and scree enroute to Uhuru Peak, the highest point, where huge permanent glaciers flow from the summit high above the dusty African plains. We’ll face long days, freezing temperatures, and fatigue on this challenging altitude trek, but with every achievement of your own, you’ll be helping others through your fundraising.
